Environmental Health Officers Mark 2025 World Environmental Health Day in Delta

The Environmental Health Officers Association of Nigeria (EHOAN) has joined the global community to mark the 2025 World Environmental Health Day with the theme: “Clean Air, Healthy People.”

The event, held in Asaba ,Delta State, brought together key stakeholders and professionals committed to advancing environmental health and sustainable living. Declaring the seminar open, the Delta State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Ejiro Jamani, underscored the urgent need for collective action to tackle air pollution, stressing that clean air is a fundamental human right and critical to public health and economic productivity.

Also in attendance was the Aniocha South Supervisory Councillor for Environment, Hon. Chika Kelly Edozie, who reaffirmed Hon.pastor Jude Chukwunwike’s determination to strengthen grassroots environmental health initiatives. He emphasized that protecting the environment requires shared responsibility between government, institutions, and the people, particularly in promoting cleaner air and healthier communities.

Other environmental health officers present used the occasion to advocate for stronger policies, improved public awareness, and consistent enforcement of environmental laws to safeguard human health against air-related diseases.

The seminar provided a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and renewed commitment to sustainable practices that will enhance both human health and environmental resilience in Delta State and beyond.
